Carrie Fordham, Counsellor and Therapist, Ipswich & Needham Market, Suffolk

Hi, my name is Carrie.

Welcome to Helianthus Counselling, a Person-Centred Therapy service based Needham Market and also catering to Ipswich, Stowmarket and the rest of Suffolk.

From here you can find out more about me and the service in general, read my regular, informative blogs, and contact me to book a consultation.

I am a BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) registered counsellor, meaning that I belong to a professional body which ensures that I have the necessary qualifications to practise and that I work within the ethical guidelines. I also attend Clinical Supervision regularly, ensuring that I am practising effectively and to the highest standard for each client.

I practise with a Person-Centred or Client-Centred approach, and aim to create a warm, non-judgemental atmosphere in which you are considered the expert about your own feelings and emotions. I do not give advice, but instead work with you to try to make sense of troubling current or unresolved past difficulties.

I work with individuals who may be struggling with a wide range of issues and have need of depression counselling, anxiety counselling, relationship counselling, or grief counselling. Anger issues, or a sense of being out of step with the world are also common reasons for seeking a counsellor. Although I do not yet offer couples counselling, I hope to do so in the near future. All sessions are completely confidential and are on a one to one basis.

I currently offer face to face or Skype sessions, and although I do not feel that email counselling offers the immediacy needed for therapy to be successful, I am open to an initial consultation via email if that makes you feel more comfortable.

If you decide that I could be of some help to you then our introductory session will be free of charge. This will allow you to decide if you would like to commit to six further sessions. It is usual to have one session per week, which last for 50 minutes, but there is no upper limit on the amount of sessions you can choose to attend.
